In 1972, a group of villagers led by Miss Winifred Newberry, decided it would be a good idea to go around the village during the Christmas season to sing carols. This event proved to be a complete success, and the group, full of enthusiasm, decided to make it a permanent feature for the village..

Thus was born the  Horringer Singers.

Founded on the 7th of February 1972 and led by Winifred for many years, with very successful results.

Another year gone by. We are still singing our hearts out.

At  the 2011 AGM the following people were all elected to look after us.

Vice Chair Susan Crameri

John Catlow

will be our new MD as from the new year 2012

We have sung under John's baton a couple of times at joint concerts; so he is not a stranger to us, but we look forward to a long and happy partnership.

Welcome aboard John

---------------------------------

We are about 28/30 members at present. The numbers vary over the years, sometimes up and sometimes down.

(There are still a few original members from 1972 !!).You could say old codgers!!! Or perhaps musical codgers!!!!

Our range of music includes pretty well anything from Bach to Boogie, and we normally aim to offer at least three programmes during the year.

The first at Easter, when a religious programme is sung. Generally in Horringer Church, and/or other Churches in the area.

The summer concert follows with a selection of music taken from a wide variety of sources, and finally the Christmas concert, with the ever popular carols interspersed with other selections of a suitable nature to reflect the Christmas event.

These are the main programmes, but we also sing at weddings and other functions, as and when requested.

Any profits we make from concerts, after expenses, we donate as much as possible to various charities. These are decided by general opinion of the choir. .Favourites at the moment being the Anglian Air Ambulance and the local Hospice in Bury St Edmunds.

------------------------------------------------------------------

If you are a singer why not come along and join us. You'll enjoy it I can assure you, as we are a friendly lot, and you will be made very welcome.

At the moment we are very short of Tenors, so if you know of, or are one, please come along. We need you!!!!!

It would appear that they don't make many tenors these days!!!!

Rehearsals are every Thursday 7-30pm at the Community Centre in Horringer.
